Quote from Elder Richard G. Scott on Family History Work

"But what about you? Have you prayed about your own ancestors’ work? Set aside those things in your life that don’t really matter. Decide to do something that will have eternal consequences. Perhaps you have been prompted to look for ancestors but you feel that you are not a genealogist. Can you see that you don’t have to be anymore? It all begins with love and a sincere desire to help those beyond the veil who can’t help themselves. Check around. There will be someone in your area who can help you have success."

"This work is a spiritual work, a monumental effort of cooperation on both sides of the veil, where help is given in both directions. Anywhere you are in the world, with prayer and faith, determination and diligence, and some sacrifice, you can make a powerful contribution. Begin now. I promise you that the Lord will help you find a way."

-Elder Richard G. Scott-

My Testimony

I know that I have a loving Heavenly Father who loves me, knows me, wants me to be successful in this life, and HE has provided ways for me to be able to do so. HE sent His Only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ to atone for my sins, heart-aches, and trials. Jesus Christ is my friend and I know he is the bridge that allows me to have all good things His gospel brings into my life. I know that he sits at the head of this church. It is HIS church and he restored it in these the Latter-days. I know that Joseph Smith is a prophet of God. He was the Lord's instrument in the restoration of the gospel. Joseph Smith translated the Book of Mormon and the words on each page speak to my heart. It is a book for me and the day which I love in. It is an inspired and sacred record that strengthens my testimony of this gospel. I am grateful for Prophets. I can't imagine not having their inspired council and messages to get through day-to-day life. This life would be unbearable without messengers from the Lord. I love to see the temple and I am glad that I am able to enter the doors of it. It is my sanctuary. The temple is the REAL world and I am grateful to be in it. Families are Forever and the temple provides this sacred blessing! Eternal families are very in God's plan for His children. In the sacred name of Jesus Christ, AMEN.

Pieces of Me

In 2013, I started working in the Kansas City  Missouri Temple. Oh! how I love my temple. I have never in my life felt the Spirit of Elijah as I have since working in the temple. I  have had many experiences that are to sacred to write about and have inspired me to learn how to do Family History. So, I decided to take a class form BYU-I on how to get started.

The semester has started and I am really excited for my FDREL-261: Introduction to Family History Class. I have started this blog to chronicle my experiences in "Finding Pieces of Me," through Family History Research.  I decided to do this for many reasons. The biggest reason being it is a requirement for the course. I hope you enjoy my journey as I discover pieces of me through family history.
